POSITIVE DENTAL EXPERIENCES FOR KIDS

A Dental Home For Growing Smiles

SUPPORTING YOUR CHILD THROUGH EVERY STAGE

At Pearland Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Pamela Clark and Dr. Lejla Zoronjic provide dental care adjusted to each child’s needs. As board-certified pediatric dentists, they work closely with families from the toddler years right through adolescence. Our practice supports healthy development and positive dental experiences for kids. Many of our patients stay with us through their college years because of our welcoming and friendly approach to their care.

Our expert team focuses on preventive care and conservative treatment. We recommend only what a child truly needs and help parents understand home routines that work to keep smiles healthy between visits. Even children who arrive feeling anxious or unsure, often leave feeling calm and proud, thanks to our gentle and child-friendly approach.

We use the latest in tools, technology, and knowledge to support children’s dental care. This includes laser dentistry, as well as anesthesia tools like The Wand and SleeperOne to improve comfort.

Growth and Development Support

GUIDING HOW TEETH AND JAWS GROW

As children grow, their dental needs change, and some issues can affect how their teeth emerge later on. When baby teeth are lost prematurely, the nearby teeth can shift. In those cases, space maintainers can help hold the space open until the permanent teeth are ready to emerge.

Habits such as thumb-sucking can also affect the bite and jaw position over time. Our team works with families, offering practical tips and tools to support children in moving away from these habits.

In some situations where kids have narrow palates, palatal expanders may be recommended to widen the upper jaw. This creates additional space to support healthy growth. Dr. Clark and Dr. Zoronjic monitor changes to keep treatment on track, ensuring parents are informed at every step.

Preventive Care

BUILD STRONG HABITS AND HEALTHY SMILES

Preventive care helps lower the chance of cavities and supports normal growth. During routine cleanings, our team assesses how the teeth and jaws are developing and can identify early signs of concern. Did you know we are the only practice offering professional cleanings performed by registered dental hygienists in our local area? Our hygienists provide careful, thorough cleanings while helping children build confidence in the dental chair.

Parents often ask for clear guidance on brushing routines and diet choices. We share practical tips that help families build simple habits to support healthy baby teeth. This matters because healthy teeth in early childhood support speech, chewing, and help prepare for permanent teeth later in life. We also recommend that children be evaluated every 6 months to monitor their oral health, oral hygiene, and growth and development.

Restorations for Kids

EXTRA STABILITY FOR LITTLE SMILES

When a child has a small cavity, we can use tooth-colored fillings to restore function. These fillings blend in with the existing enamel and look completely natural. Where the cavity is more extensive, there may be a need for more coverage than a filling can provide. We offer zirconia crowns, which are also tooth-colored for the front teeth, while stainless steel crowns remain a strong and reliable choice for molars. Zirconia may also be considered for certain molars depending on the child’s bite and needs. At Pearland Pediatric Dentistry, we explain each option clearly, so parents can choose what feels right for their child. If you want a zirconia crown for your child's molar based on aesthetics, that is absolutely your choice to make.

Strengthening and Protecting Teeth

SIMPLE TREATMENTS THAT LOWER CAVITY RISK

Some treatments are quick to apply and can help support healthy teeth. Fluoride varnish helps strengthen enamel and is well tolerated by most children. Sealants can protect the deep grooves of the molars where brushing is often harder, especially for younger kids. In certain cases, silver diamine fluoride may be used to slow early decay and delay the need for more involved treatment. Our team will talk through any options that may be helpful for your child during their visit.

White Spot Treatment

Remineralizing Vulnerable Teeth

White spots on the teeth are warning signs that your child's tooth might need a little extra care to protect the enamel. We offer Icon white spot treatment to remineralize the tooth and protect the enamel. White spots can pop up when your child's tooth erupts or comes in, after orthodontic treatment with braces, or as the first sign of tooth decay. With Icon, we can restore the appearance of the tooth and protect from further decay without removing any tooth structure or anesthesia. It's a safe and comfortable process.

Sedation Dentistry

OPTIONS FOR ADDED COMFORT

Some children feel anxious about dental visits or need extra support to complete their treatment comfortably. We have nitrous oxide available, which helps children to relax. This light sedation method is safe for children and wears off quickly after the appointment.

Oral conscious sedation is also available if a deeper level of relaxation is needed or for longer, more complex treatments. When intravenous (IV) sedation is the best option, a dental anesthesiologist comes to our office to monitor the child throughout the procedure. This allows our dentists to complete the necessary work while the child rests comfortably.

Protecting Little Teeth

CUSTOM SPORTS MOUTH GUARDS AND NIGHTGUARDS

Active children need added protection. Custom sports mouth guards help reduce the risk of injuries during practices and games. Nightguards help children who grind or clench their teeth while they sleep. At Pearland Pediatric Dentistry, all our guards are completely custom made so they fit well, feel comfortable, and support the long-term dental health of your child.

Frenectomies

SUPPORTING MOUTH FUNCTION

A lip tie or tongue tie can affect how a child eats, speaks, or moves their mouth. Sometimes, an infant who is struggling to latch during feedings may have a tongue tie that is restricting them. Painful nursing sessions are a good indication that your baby should be evaluated. When a restriction causes ongoing challenges, a frenectomy may be recommended to release the tight tissue and allow for more natural movement. At Pearland Pediatric Dentistry, frenectomies are performed using a soft-tissue laser. This approach is gentle and well tolerated by most children. The laser also allows for faster healing.
